These two individuals are Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin who together founded the Lacey & Larkin Frontera Fund recently. The creation of Frontera Fund was effected by the fate of a case which involved the two co-founders and the Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

The sheriff had arrested Lacey and Jim Larkin for exposing through their newspapers the sheriff’s misdeeds and his abuses of his authority. Under the rights conferred by the First Amendment, the duo took the sheriff to court. The settlement effected between the parties meant a huge rumination for Lacey and Jim Larkin.

The two journalists won $3.75 million. The two have decided to spend this money for the furtherance of migrants’ rights and human rights in Arizona and beyond. To this effect, they have set up the Lacey & Larkin Frontera Fund.

In its bid to meet its goals, the Frontera Fund seeks to cooperate with and support several rights groups and organization. The Fund provides money to different groups working on migrants’ rights.

The Fund supports groups and organizations such as American Civil Liberties Union , Center for Neighborhood Leadership and Arizona Justice Project. The Fund has also seeks to build homes for homeless people in Arizona and the adjacent areas.

Lacey and Larkin are eminent journalist who own and operate a couple of newspapers. These two outlets are Phoenix New Times and Village Voice Media. Through their news setting agenda and their writings, the two have been very vocal on issues faced by common people. Lacey and Larking have long been the champions of human rights.
