Scott Rocklage chose UC Berkeley precisely because of its stellar reputation in the worlds of science and chemistry. He knew that the program would be very challenging, but he had never been afraid of a challenge. After four years of hard work, he came away from UC Berkeley with a bachelor of science in chemistry. He excelled so much that he decided to keep up the momentum by applying to MIT’s highly competitive graduate chemistry program. He was accepted, and he was lucky enough to work under Richard R. What he was doing just wasn’t affecting the kind of change that he wanted. He wanted to truly make a difference–but how?
